David B. Johnson, MD, FACP
A native of Wyoming, Dr. Johnson received his medical degree from the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine. He completed his internship, medical residency, and fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Wilford Hall, the United States Air Force Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He also completed a visiting fellowship at the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, Washington. Dr. Johnson is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Subspecialty Boards of Medical Oncology and Hematology.
Prior to joining the Cancer Center of Kansas in 1989, Dr. Johnson was a Staff Oncologist/Hematologist at San Antonio’s U.S.A.F. Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Johnson established the Bone Marrow Transplant Program at St. Francis Regional Medical Center. He is the past-director of this transplant program, established for both autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplants. Following an on-site inspection, this transplant program was approved for participation in the Southwest Oncology Group Research Bone Marrow Transplant Program. This was the first non-university hospital to receive approval.
Dr. Johnson is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University Of Kansas School Of Medicine – Wichita. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, the Southwest Oncology Group, and the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project.
